Inspired By Al lthe Little Things #45 featuring Marybeth Lopez

Hello, Tracey here and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

This week I have invited...

Marybeth Lopez

I asked Marybeth to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?

The name of my blog is Marybeth’s Time For Paper. I started my blog December 26 2010. I started my blog so that I could participate in the Papertrey Ink weekly challenges.

2. What is your style of card making?

I would say that my style is now mostly Clean and Simple, but I do love all kinds of styles.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?

So many people have inspired me along the way, mostly the designers at Papertrey Ink , that's where it all started for me. Tracey and I go way back many years ago, I think when I saw her go more CAS that I liked it so much that I started to change it up and do the same thing. Layering lots of things on a card takes a lot of talent. I seem to do better with less is more.

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?

I love sketches and inspirations photos, its a nice place to start a design from. I am not one for many limitations, for some reason that messes me up.
5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?

I am one of 9 children, second oldest. My parents had seven girls and two boys. All the girls name start with Mary….. and its all one word. The first two of us were named after someone my parents knew, then when the girls kept coming they decided to keep up with the Mary’s. I know its a bit unusual but its my story :)

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!

Inspiring Stand Outs #44

It's time for some Inspiring Stand Outs!  A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Twilight/Ferris Wheel challenge this week.  Becca & I have each chosen a project that stood out from the crowd!

For her Inspiring Stand Out, Becca has chosen:
"I just love her CAS style - with the added touch of the stitching effect."

Karen has chosen:
"I love how Shawna used the die cut as a silhouette, and created the shimmery sunset behind it."

Congratulations, ladies!  Feel free to grab the Inspiring Stand Out badge below to display on your blogs.  Thank you to my fabulous Guest Designer, Becca Whitham for sharing her talents with us this week.  There will be another Inspired By Challenge up in just an hour.

Inspired By All The Little Things #44 with Becca Whitham

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

It's Karen with you this week, and I have invited Becca Whitham from Expressions as my guest designer.  Becca has a wonderful sense of design, and real skill with watercolours, putting together stunning cards week after week.  She is one busy lady, so I'm thrilled that amidst a big move, she was able to join us this week!

I asked Becca to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is called "Expressions" but the address is "becca-expressions.blogspot.com."  I started it in 2010 as a way of being accountable on my weight loss (hmmm) and writing for publication goals.  At least I met the second one.  I also needed an outlet because my husband was deployed for a year, we'd just become empty nesters, and I'd moved from the Pacific NW to Colorado where I knew very few people except new Army friends.

2. What is your style of card making?
Generally, I'm Clean and Simple (CAS), but sometimes I can't help getting frilly or piling on layers.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?
Oh...I'm such a blog-hopping, Pinterest browsing, card challenge junkie, I should start my own support group!  However, there are a few artists who have really helped me up my game. Sandy Allnock is the Copic Marker Queen, Debby Hughes at limedoodle design makes water colored pieces of art, and Maile Belles rocks the clean and simple world.  I've also benefited greatly from Online Card Classes.

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
All of them!  I began my card-making journey by buying everything I needed to copy a specific card exactly. That morphed into being inspired by cards I liked and using the supplies I had on hand to make my own version. A few years ago, I really got into color challenges where there wasn't a theme or inspiration photo.  I felt too limited by anything other than color.  Only recently have I started to enjoy the challenges that include a photo or theme.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?
Ballet got me over my fear of spiders. Really!  I forget what part they played in the overall dance recital program, but my age group ended up being spiders.  We had these black costumes with foam "legs" that stuck out all over.  I still don't like spiders, and I'll screechy-scream if I come upon a large one unexpectedly, but I no longer irrationally fear them.

Thank you all so much for joining us this week for the Inspired by Challenge #43.  We loved seeing how you were inspired in all of your creative projects. These are the submissions that have earned a special Inspiring Stand Out this week. Please go ahead and display the badge on your blog.

A special thank you to Michele Ferguson for being our Creative Guest this week!

Both Michele and I have chosen our stand outs!

Michele's Choice:

Bobby’s card and her use of the gorgeous cover-plate to recreate the upholstery fabric, the mirrored paper, and perfect pink flower are why I’ve chosen her card as the winner this time!  Thanks to everyone in the gallery – all exceptionally beautiful – for playing cards with us!!  Thanks, once more, for the opportunity to guest design at Inspired by all the Little Things!

Karren's Choice:

Ardyth focused on a few central elements in the inspiration photo to come up with this perfectly designed CAS card, that I kept coming back to admire time and again.

Congratulations ladies and thank you to everyone who played along with us this week! We will be back in one hour with a brand new challenge!

The next challenge goes live at 5:00 am PST.

Inspired By All The Little Things Featuring Michele Ferguson

Hello!  This is Karren and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

This week I have invited...
Michele Ferguson of I Card Everyone

I'm sure most people know Michele - as well as being an amazing card-maker, she is also an incredibly friendly and generous supporter of this little hobby of ours.
I asked Michele to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?

I Card Everyone! is the name of my blog ... a cheeky switch on the sign posted anywhere in the U.S. where one would buy liquor! HA! and me who doesn’t drink [often]. I started making cards to say the things that were in my heart ... blogging as a way to enter card challenges, and this to hone my skills!

2. What is your style of card making?

CAS and fun is my chosen style.  I have been honored with the moniker: Queen of Embossing – a role I do not take lightly!

3. Who inspires you as a designer?

I’m often inspired by amy Tsuruta, Lisa Elton, and Donna – love amy’s sense of fun, Lisa’s feminine touch, and what’s NOT to love about Ms. Mikasa, I ask you?
4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?

As a team member at CAS[E] this Sketch, I do love to create from a sketch, but I’m often seriously inspired by photos – like this one from Inspired by All the Little Things, and others from Fusion, and The Heart Desires.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?
I actually wrote to Hallmark to ask if I could write sentiments for them!!!  Totally rejected, UNLESS I wanted to move to Kansas City – wish I’d known Laurie Willison then... I might have considered it!

Inspired by All the Little Things #42 with creative guest Nina Forsyth

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

Lesley here! We had a tremendous snowfall and I have been without power! No cell phone either, as it wasn't charged enough to last! Ack! But the power is back on and here is the challenge inspiration for this week! Sorry for the late start!

This week I have invited...

I asked Nina to share a bit about herself...

1.      What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is “Notes by Nina” and can be found at ninascardart.blogspot.ca. I actually did not start my blog, my sister did and she gave it to me as a Birthday present in 2008. She has always been more in touch with social media and felt I should share my cards.

2.      What is your style of card making?
Truthfully, I have no clue what my style is. I love layers and they are my go-to when I am stuck. I am trying to getting better at CAS cards, so when life gets busy I can still get in some craft time.

3.      Who inspires you as a designer?
I have to choose one person...that is a tough one! I can't really single anyone out. I have found inspiration from so many people; from the seasoned creators, to those just discovering this fabulous addiction. I am often surprised at what catches my attention and motives my creativeness.

4.      What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
I am inspired with sketches and/or inspiration images. I come up with my best ideas when I am asked for a specific card and usually on a tight timeline. I struggle most with colour challenges.

5.      Share something about yourself that we may not know?
I like to listen to audiobooks when crafting, it makes me feel like I am multitasking.

Here is Nina's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!
