Inspired By All the Little Things featuring Carol Mayne

Hello, Tracey here, and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist! I have chosen an inspiration that seems to be perfect for this time of the year!

This week I have invited...

Carol Mayne

I asked Carol to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?

My blog name, just me: c, came about as a little place where I can be 'just me'. The 'c' (lower case) is simply 'because'; I rarely sign/type my full name, so 'c' is who I am, Even my niece and nephew know me as Aunty c.  I started my blog in 2013, as a way to 'commit' to crafting (and to justify my investments *grin*). Little did I know that in so doing I would meet some of the most encouraging, supportive, talented, friendly people in the world!

2. What is your style of card making?

CAS, or as some have described it 'eclectic CAS', which is a significant switch from the way I initially started, where I was patterned-papering all over the place. I've learned to embrace the white space…most of the time.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?

Everyone in this community!  I have a LONG list of people I follow via Feedly, Instagram and Facebook, whose talents awe me daily.

4. What sorts of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?

A combination of all three, actually.  In all honesty, if I didn't have these sources of inspiration, I'd be helpless!  I'm far better an 'inspire-ee' than an 'inspire'er'.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?

I'm a bike-racing official (no, I do not race at all! Are you kidding me...bike racing is an exhilarating, but incredibly sketchy, sport.) in the disciplines of road bike, mountain-bike and cyclo-cross. Most weekends, from early May to the end of October, you’ll find me at finish lines, clipboard, pen and stop-watch in hand, in my role as a commissaire. The racing community is a special place for me.

Here is Carol's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!

Donna's choice is #12, Diana K!

Karen's choice is #3 Michele!

"I love that Michele used just a hint of colour on her card, and the soft white stamping captured the dreamy look beautifully!"

Congratulations, ladies!

Inspired By All The Little Things #40 featuring Donna Rudy

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

It's Karen here with you this week, and I have invited...
Donna Rudy from Krash Scrapper!

I can honestly say that Donna is the most innovative card maker that I know!  Unique details and brilliant designs are her trademark (you know when you say to yourself "I wish I'd thought of that"...).  She's a great lady to hang out and craft with, too!
I asked Donna to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is called: kardsbykrashscrapper.blogspot.ca . Very early in my card making days I realized I needed to have a blog to not only showcase my projects (my first cards left a lot to be desired) but also to participate in challenges. To be honest, it is kind of fun to go back and look at my first cards... although honestly I would like to redo them all! <smile>  The blog itself is named after my horse. I had to say good bye to him about 3 1/2 years ago but he taught me so many life lessons and inspired me in so many ways I wanted to find a way to honour him.

2. What is your style of card making?
I am not sure what I would call my card making style. I like to create scenes but I have also recently been pushing myself to work with more layers of patterned paper. I also like to throw a CAS card in there once and awhile just for fun. With each card I do I really try to keep the focus on the stamp I am using and try to use embellishments that highlight it.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?
I am quite new in the card making world and still getting my feet wet but one of the first people to inspire me is a very talented stamp artist and card designer - Crissy Armstrong. I not only love her stamps but I also love her card style. I am also inspired by Karen Dedman at Your Next Stamp. My first challenge card ever was a card I created using a stamp she named after my horse. The rest is history as they say. I am also inspired by my horse and all the things he taught me and the day to day antics of my dog

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
I am inspired by alot of things! It can be everything from a piece of patterned paper, to a stamp, to a card layout by another talented card maker - there really is no easy answer to this question <smile> The list goes on but I often find myself looking at a beautiful sunset/sunrise/storm clouds etc and trying to figure out what alcohol markers I would use to recreate the colours I am seeing.......I know - weird right?!?

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?
When I was 12 years old I got thrown from a horse and fractured my skull. I spent two weeks in a coma and a year not being able to do anything physical......no horseback riding, no soccer and no beating up my brothers - all things I enjoyed very much! I love cheesecake - if it's on the menu I'm having some! much to my hubby's dismay the night he proposed to me <chuckle>. I also have a huge weakness <wink> for Reese's Peanut Butter cups....especially when they are in a DQ Blizzard.

Here is Donna's card using this week's inspiration!
The challenge designers & I have also created a card for this week's inspiration!  We would love to have you join us!

Hannelie's Choice:

Inspired by all the Little Things #39

ElizStewart
Elizabeth's card is a beautiful reflection of the inspiration photo. The black card base shows off the silver sentiment and die cut heart in a dramatic way!
Great job!

Karren's Choice:

The richness of Cathy's colored and embossed panel really caught my eye and the beautiful silver scripty sentiment was a perfect match!

Congratulations ladies and thank you to everyone who played along with us this week! We will be back in one hour with a brand new challenge!

The next challenge goes live at 5:00 am PST.

Inspired by all the Little Things featuring Hannelie Bester & welcome to new Design Team Member, Silke Ledlow

Hello and welcome to Inspired By All The Little Things! This is a weekly inspiration challenge blog and each week we feature a wonderful designer who inspires us as an artist!

This week I have invited...

Hannelie Bester of Desert Diva

Hannelie has a very distinctive and stunning graphic card-making style and I wish we lived closer so I could take some Silhouette lessons off her 😃  I asked Hannelie to share a bit about herself...

1. What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
Desert Diva ... a creative journey.

I started blogging in March 2011.

I've been making cards for years before, and was introduced to the world of card making blogs by my sister in law. I was so intrigued by the idea of using a challenge as design  inspiration, that I started my own blog in order to take part in challenges, and now , after almost 6 years of blogging, I still find it a wonderful creative outlet.

2. What is your style of card making?
Clean and simple - graphic.

3. Who inspires you as a designer?

Not one specific person ... inspiration is everywhere!

4. What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?

Photos, sketches, colors, fashion, window displays. I am always alert and on the look out for inspiration.

5. Share something about yourself that we may not know?

I don't play board games ðŸ˜€

Here is Hannelie's card using this week's inspiration!

The challenge designers have also created a card for this week's inspiration! These ladies just inspire me SO much!!! I hope you will play along with us this week! We would love to have you join us!

We are delighted to welcome a new member to our Design Team! We are thrilled to have Silke Ledlow join us!

Silke Ledlow - http://silkeledlow.blogspot.com

Howdy friends! I'm married to the best husband ever and we have three beautiful girls together.  We also have a boxer pup named Luke. We currently live in the State of Texas. My crafting time is definitely an escape from my busy life with the girls. I started stamping a little over 10 years ago. If you like, you can check out my ideas on my blog,  “My Life”. When I’m not crafting, I like to hang out at the pool, grill, bake and travel around the country. I’m super excited to be part of this awesome team and I’m looking forward to sharing my creations with you!
